Look at it this way. Naruto isn’t sending them to take on whatever enemy Konohamaru and Mugino went up against, he just wants them to scout and see if they can pick up on their traces to understand what happened. They just happen to be the closest to them (plus god know how long it will take to get backup) so if they come across them in a critical condition they can help them. He even told them not to engage given the situation isn’t favourable. Plus it’s important that Boruto is there (not gonna spoil, though it should be obvious) Boruto’s team is actually the best amongst the genin as they’re pretty much as skilled as Chunin.

Yeah as a Ninjutsu, not as a Scientific Ninja Tool. That is a jutsu that allows you to extend chakra onto a blade. It's a technique that requires some training.

This is meant to be a blade that naturally pulls from your chakra and allows you to have a weapon even if you have no training. But given it's purely made of chakra and how much is required to make an entire sword, it pulls too much and exhausts the user. It's cool in a proof of concept, bad for practical use. If it could pull from Chakra externally from the user then it would be extremely useful.

Don't diss it just because it has some similarities to Star Wars. Yes it's somewhat a reference but any energy based blades can't exist without comparison. It fits in the world quite nice if you actually think about it.

Team 7 already used chakra blades in the Naruto Shipudden movie 4, so it was nothing new. Actually, their blade was better suited as a chakra blade, I know he said the new one needs some work but it was kinda pointless. Mainly all the scientific ninja tools were already created, they used the smoke flash and sound bombs several time before. I have seen the use flying kites before, and what will they do with the mittens and boots. How will the fight if attacked with the mittens own, and once the reach their destination do they disappear. They just really trying to add technology into needless things, that doesn't make sense.

I don't watch movies unless they are canon movies, which most aren't. So I never really saw the blades from that and wouldn't even count it, probably is about as canon as filler.
The mittens and boots I don't think is useless. That isn't something that you're supposed to use in the field (likely more for a stealth operation). If you get attacked, they do acrobatics all the time and likely would take them off and use chakra to cling onto the wall. It's made to preserve some chakra for when you need it which is smart.
The Smoke-Flash bomb though uses sound instead of light. This is an advancement versus what has been seen in the past.
The Kite I don't think is very useful to be honest. Getting out of it looks difficult. But I'm sure this is merely test equipment and is being adjusted. I could see another system where you stand on it instead potentially working better.

I'm unsure if the Vessel is IV or IX, either way doesn't make sense because Jigen is IV and who is VIII then?

We also know multiple of their bodies (I, VI, III, VII at least) are created. VI is looking like possible spy this episode, but can't tell. The true purpose is still very unknown, even more so due to lack of interest in chakra fruit which is the most shocking to me. Vessel for who?

This episode had some fun with the tools. I never stopped thinking they were potential asset. Boruto luckily has mind in right place. Sumeri should also be training to control Nue, not just relying on tools.
